Daphne Gadd Music

Expert flute, clarinet and saxophone tuition for all ages

About me

Qualifications

BSc, ARCM, QTS. I also have full CRB clearance.

Training

After leaving school, I studied at Newcastle University and obtained an honours degree in physics. But my real wish was to be a musician, so I applied to the Royal College of Music and was accepted. There I studied the flute with Eddie Walker, piano accompaniment with Valerie Trimble and chamber music with Marisa Robles, Christopher Hyde-Smith and Colin Bradbury. After gaining my ARCM Teaching Diploma I spent a year at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, studying the flute with Peter Lloyd and Trevor Wye. This enabled me to experience a wide range of teaching styles and repertoire, and gave me many exciting opportunities for solo and ensemble performance.

Other Interests

I enjoy photography, cooking (and eating!), swimming and reading.  I have recently made bridesmaids dresses for two family weddings and I'm now making the dresses for a third! I am delighted that I've now moved back to Devon as one of my favourite activities is walking on Dartmoor. I have three children and two small grand-daughters.
